Muscle Name Latissimus Dorsi (Lats)
Description The Latissimus Dorsi’s are located on the midsection of the back.  It is the broadest muscles of the back, where it gets its name (Latis meaning broad in Latin).  The Lats are extremely important for the shoulder, back, and the arms.  They aid in extension, arm movements, and back control.

Description The Rotator Cuff is especially important for athletes.  The Rotator Cuff is a group of 4 muscles that work to move the shoulder. (supraspinatus, infraspinatusteres minorsubscapularis) It is used to rotate the arm in all directions, it also is involved in throwing, pitching, swinging, etc. The rotator cuff is sensitive to awkward movements.  Intense strain can cause tear or serious inflammation in the muscles or tendons.  The Rotator cuff strength is something to look out for as an athlete because without it damage and serious injury may occur.

Description The Trapezius is a muscle located behind your neck that extends down to the mid section of the back.  This large triangular muscle supports both arms and helps retract and depresses the scapulae.  Strong trapezius are key for shoulder stability and flexibility.
