Tip Drill
Many times things don’t always go as planned during a game. A ball that has been deflected and is in mid air is fair game for either opponent. It is critical to be able to recognize when a ball has gone astray and to put yourself in the position to catch it. By working this drill consistently you will teach your body to attack the ball. Great drill for wide receivers and defensive backs.
Catch and Tuck
This drill is excellent for any skill player who needs to catch and hold onto the ball. This drill will teach a player to tuck the ball high and tight as soon as it touches his hands. This drill is perfect for reducing fumbles.
Over The Shoulder Drill
Over The Shoulder Drill- This drill is a catching exercise meant to increase players comfort levels with catching passes that are over the shoulder rather than right in front. Receivers, running backs, and defensive backs should practice this drill.
Have a quarterback and a player line up on the same line. The player will run out 15 yards and the quarterback will simply lob the ball over the players head. Take reps with the quarterback on both the left and right side to practice turning back in different directions. Remember to always look back towards the receiver. For added practice add a trailing defender.
